How to talk to text on your phone

There is a way you can text and type totally hands-free on your phone. By speaking to your iPhone, using talk to text, you can have your phone write what you want to say.

Here’s how to use only your voice to text your next message.

There are two ways: one is hands-free and the other you need to press a button.

For the hands-free way you need to have Siri activated. Then simply say: “Hey Siri, text [name of your contact].”

Siri will reply: “What do you wanna say?”

Reply with what you want to say. For punctuation, you can say that too: period, exclamation point, new paragraph, etc. The phone will follow along.

For the second way you need to press a button. Open the text message and instead of typing press the microphone key here:

You can then talk to text.

This feature works for anything – not just texts! You can use it in another app when you want to write something, as long as the microphone appears.
