What does FYP mean on TikTok?

FYP. I have seen it all over TikTok. And for a while, I had no idea what it meant. People wrote it on their posts, they used it in hashtags – they couldn’t get enough of FYP.

So I did the obvious thing. I searched it on Google. What does FYP mean on TikTok?

What comes up first is: Fixed Your Post. But this isn’t what it means on TikTok. FYP means: For You Page. But why turn that into a hashtag #fyp?

When you open the TikTok app, it defaults to the main page. This page is split at the top into two sections: Following and For You. The ‘Following’ section shows the content of the people you follow. The ‘For You’ section shows content that is recommended to you by the platform.

Tagging it with FYP is a way to try and get it recommended to this front landing page so that people who may not follow you will potentially see your content.
