What's ChatGPT and how to use it

ChatGPT is an artificial intelligence chatbot. The AI can write short stories and poems, give you information and help you outline ideas. Artificial intelligence research lab OpenAI created and launched it at the end of 2022.

GPT stands for generative pre-trained transformer, which means ChatGPT is a program that can write like a human being.

As of 2023, there are still limitations of course, like getting the news of the day:

But there are ways to get around this and still use it to get the info you need. For example, you can copy/paste an article and then ask it to give you a summary of the article.

Regardless of some limitations, it is pretty advanced for AI when it comes to language. It can understand and generate text in English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Arabic, and several other languages.

The site writes, “We’ve trained a model called ChatGPT which interacts in a conversational way. The dialogue format makes it possible for ChatGPT to answer followup questions, admit its mistakes, challenge incorrect premises, and reject inappropriate requests.”

Here’s an example of something I asked ChatGPT:

I also had it write some impressive songs and poems, but when I asked it to outline a murder mystery plot I was bored by its lackluster description and writing. However, I think if I’d given it more direction and details I’d have gotten a better answer. This post is a good summary of how to get the most out of ChatGPT.

Here’s a cool example of ChatGPT using a Google Sheets extension:

@alex_the_pm

Someone created a chat GPT Google sheets extension, and I had to share how I thought it would help people searching for jobs. I had to type in a few commands to come up with a list of companies, their CEOs, a list of LinkedIn messages, and a list of coffee chat questions. The opportunities are endless with chat GPT and Google sheets. #googlesheets#googlesheetstips#techtok#pivotintoproduct#chatgpt#techlayoffs#careertok

One major thing about ChatGPT is it can get things wrong. So make sure to fact-check stuff before you rely on it!

As of 2023, ChatGPT works best on a computer or with Safari on your phone. It will also save your history for you if you log in.
