Discovering a new place you love can be a lot of fun. Discovering a new place you love that’s beautiful is even better! This museum in Miami is full of interesting facts, history and it provides a gorgeous backdrop to photos – whether it be for a wedding, family portraits or your social media.
First of all, I had never heard of Vizcaya Museum and Gardens before my mother-in-law suggested we go for a visit. The former home of businessman James Deering is now a museum surrounded by lush gardens.

While I found the home astounding, I never expected to find something like this in this part of Miami. The structure of the building holds an open-air courtyard. And it’s in great shape, considering it’s quite old for the area.

The house is worth seeing, but the grounds around it are what I found the most captivating. You can spend hours roaming from place to place, from water to trees to mazes. And I’m telling you, this museum in Miami is a great spot for photography!
After exploring the museum, we spent maybe an hour outside. I walked away with dozens of photos that I knew would look great with the lighting and scenery.
