Our glamping experience at Under Canvas

My husband and I spent a night in a luxury tent near the Grand Canyon at Under Canvas. We’re not really campers, but thought glamping – aka glamorous camping – would be a great way to experience nature on our road trip.

It was a fun experience, and one night was just enough time for us. Here are some pros and cons to think about if you’re interested in trying out glamping at a place like Under Canvas:

Pros

• The night sky was spectacular. You have a better chance of seeing the stars since you’re tucked away from city lights.

• We opted for a bathroom with running water inside our tent, which was well worth it.

• There was a main tent where people could get together for live music, campfires and s’mores.

• We don’t usually camp, so for us it was more of a unique experience.

Cons

• The only way to heat the room was with a fireplace that we were told not to use due to dangerous fire conditions, so it was freezing at night (extra blankets helped).

• It was very windy and loud. The flaps of the tent surrounding us shook throughout the night. They’re tied down, but it is a tent so it’s not a full-on wall, which made me think bugs and things can come inside.

• The sun woke us up at the crack of dawn. It was super bright.

• The main con was the expense. It was more costly than some really nice hotels.
