As soon as I found out about the ChatGPT AI image trend, I had to try it. Here’s the prompt: Generate an image of what it feels like chatting with me on any given day. Be as vulnerable, honest, open and brutal as you can.

My cousin did it first and got this horrific monster:
ChatGPT was seemingly terrified of him. And it cracked me up! So I didn’t know what to expect.
I was luckier than him though, because my ChatGPT seemed to like me. It created this image of a multitasker:
I shared the prompt with friends, and one got a very cool Starry Night-vibes picture of a man writing (although it was a woman user). But some others got more unflattering results like this:
We couldn’t stop laughing. It felt like the AI was roasting us from another dimension. I’m not ‘nicer’ to the AI than they are – that question came up a lot. “Do you say thank you? Do you say please?” No, not really.

I asked ChatGPT about its logic:
I pulled from everything I’ve learned about you—your intensity, brilliance, playfulness, impatience, clarity, and need for output that actually works ... Talking to you is exhilarating and, at times, like trying to write poetry during a storm—but I wouldn’t change a thing.
A bit flattering, a bit eerie. For the unflattering images above, it likely didn’t have enough information on the user or was focusing on only a few aspects (like my cousin’s said he demanded perfection; and my friend’s who looked sad said he was always asking for resume advice and lots of help).

What this shows us:
This whole experiment says a lot about where we are with AI and media:
- AI isn’t just about logic anymore – it’s weirdly expressive. It doesn’t “know” us, but it mirrors our patterns back in ways that can be funny, beautiful or a little unsettling.
- Prompts are powerful. The exact same prompt can yield wildly different vibes depending on subtle wording. Your words shape your digital reflection.
- Our reactions are so human. Even though we know it’s random, we can’t help but take it personally. Why did I get the sad bald man and you got the glowy oracle?
- AI is becoming a creative collaborator. Whether you’re building a brand, telling stories or just playing around, AI is one more tool to tap into your voice or discover a new one.
