Creating an explainer series from scratch

Creating an explainer series from scratch

I’ve had experience creating and producing a ton of series for the news. But one I had a lot of fun with was an explainer series on health and science facts called “Did You Know That?” for ABC News and Good Morning America.

I hosted and wrote each episode. And I made sure to keep the writing simple and straightforward. I wanted to make the pieces conversational and captivating.

We filmed each one in front of a green screen for a graphics-heavy explainer format.

We also added music to each one, and I mixed the sound in Premiere. And voilà! That’s how we created the basic format.

I was also very careful to fact-check each piece before filming. After thoroughly checking them myself, I ran the scripts by our medical unit at ABC.
