How to add a new sound to TikTok

Want to use a new sound on TikTok that you can’t find? For example, you want to use a funny quote from your favorite movie but when you search for it nothing pops up. Well, here’s how to add any sound to the social media platform!

One thing this post doesn’t cover is copyright laws, so be careful when uploading something if you don’t have the rights to it.

Here’s how to find and use the sound you want:

• First, find the sound. You can find a lot of sounds on YouTube. Then screen record it using your phone. Find directions here on how to do that!

• Next, upload the video privately to TikTok. When you’re uploading the video, click “Privacy settings” (shown below) and select “Only me:”

• Then upload the video and find it under your private videos here:

• Open the video and click the sound button on the bottom here:

• After you open the sound, click “Use this sound” if you want to use it now or select “Add to Favorites” if you want to use it later:

Another way to add any sound you want to a video is to edit the video on Premiere or another editing platform and add the sound in that way.
