Check out Time Out
I discovered an outdoor shopping mall in Osaka, Japan, that had a whole section dedicated to bars with video games – all by using Time Out. Definitely read up on your city either in advance or while there. You can discover some really great spots that you may otherwise miss. And you can see what events are happening in the area too.

Use tripadvisor
I have booked hotels, walking food tours, cooking classes and more all using Tripadvisor. This site is great because it works in multiple countries. You can also check reviews and compare prices.

talk to locals
Really one of the very best ideas is to get advice from a local. They know the location like no one else! I’ve asked people I’ve met at restaurants, on buses, etc. if they have a favorite must-try spot.

get recs from people you know
In addition to asking locals, ask friends and family who’ve been before. I love asking people where they liked going and then adding it to my travel itinerary. Plus, your family and friends know you best so they’ll most likely know if you’ll be into it or not.
Those are four ways to discover some of the best spots when traveling.
