I have planned some amazing vacations using the internet – thank you internet! And one site I love to use is Tripadvisor. There are a variety of reasons for this, but two important ones are: price comparisons and customer reviews. P.S. This page may contain affiliate links. Please see my disclosure for more information.

When it comes to price comparisons, I like to know I’m getting the best deal. I do this by using incognito windows (so my searches aren’t saved and sites don’t jack up the prices on me) and checking out different websites that are selling the same information.
When it comes to customer reviews, I like to know what other people think before I stay somewhere or try something new. I always prefer to ask people directly if I know someone who has been there before – or even better, a local if you meet one – but sites like Tripadvisor have reviews.

Not only does it have reviews, but it has good prices as well. Another good thing about Tripadvisor is it has international travel. I’ve booked many hotels and activities on Tripadvisor. Don’t underestimate the activities section, you can usually find some really awesome experiences on there. I’ve done ghost tours, pub crawls, Northern Light excursions and much more all using Tripadvisor.
when researching on the site, an important thing to pay attention to is the ‘sort by’ feature you can see here toward the top right:

I always change it to “Traveler Ranked.” This will show you the best rated spots. On the left you can also select more options like price and specific accommodations.
