You know how to turn on and off the Apple TV and how to pick a show. But below are some Apple TV remote tips you’ve probably never heard (unless you’re a huge nerd like us).

double click to switch between apps
This is one of my favorites. Double click the home button (the icon that looks like a TV) to show all of your open apps and then swipe your finger on the trackpad to quickly flip through them.
So, if you have Netflix, Disney+ and Hulu all open you can double click this button and swipe with your finger on the trackpad to quickly switch between them.
You can also close apps in this mode by swiping up with your finger on the trackpad.
use the speaker button
On the side of your Apple TV remote (for new models as of 2022), you’ll see a button with a microphone. Hold that down to talk to the remote and to search using your voice.

skip backward or forward
If you want to skip ahead or back 10 seconds while watching something, tap either edge of the trackpad. One side takes you ahead and the other side takes you back.
move through video quickly
If you want to scrub through a video quickly then pause the video and lightly place your finger on the trackpad and move it in either direction.

get more info
To get more info while a show or movie is playing, swipe down with your finger on the trackpad to pull up more settings.
rearrange apps
You can arrange apps in whatever order you want. Click and hold one, then use your finger on the trackpad to move it to the space you want.
