iPhone’s Clean Energy Charging

Apple now has a Clean Energy Charging option under phone settings, which is said to help reduce your carbon footprint.

Navigate to Settings on your phone to find it. Then click: Battery > Battery Health & Charging > Clean Energy Charging

It says: “In your region, iPhone will try to reduce your carbon footprint by selectively charging when lower carbon emission electricity is available. iPhone learns from your daily charging routine so it can reach full charge before you need to use it.”

You can tap ‘learn more’ and it takes you to learn more about the Clean Energy Charging feature. As of 2023, Clean Energy Charging is available only in the U.S. It’s on by default when you set up your iPhone or after you update to iOS 16.1.
