How do you read a teleprompter naturally? Here are some tips to make sure you look comfortable and confident and can read from a teleprompter like a pro.
Connect with the script
The better you know your material, the better you will look. While it might seem obvious, sometimes people aren’t given the material in advance. If you know the material then the more you can connect with it, the less robotic you will look and the audience will be able to tell you actually know what you’re talking about.

Practice reading
Warm up your voice and practice reading out loud. When you read your material out loud you will also notice if you want to change the writing to make sure it fits your voice.
Know the speed
The trickiest part of the prompter is the speed at which it moves. Too fast and too slow are both bad options. You want it to be just right. This will give a natural appearance like you aren’t reading. Practice with the speed ahead of time.

Relax
I can’t stress this enough. Practicing in advance and taking deep breaths are two things that can really help.
Show your personality
Don’t be afraid to move your arms (naturally and within the screen’s limit) and smile (depending on the topic). You are not a robot – you are you!

Behind the prompter
Get to know who will be controlling the prompter. Your fate is in their hands! They can also help you practice and work on the speed in advance.
