Ever try sharing a link on Facebook only to have it look odd? A link looks best when it populates a photo (thumbnail) and a headline. But if you try to share a link and just get a link, well, that’s not ideal. There is a website though that fixes all this – it’s the Facebook Debugger, and it’s great for solving issues when sharing a URL on Facebook!
Here’s how to find the debugger: https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/
The way it works is you copy and paste your link into it and click “Debug.”

Then the site will populate. Make sure you click “Scrape Again” at the top.

And then go back to Facebook, refresh the site and put in the link again. It should have the correct image and headline now.

Another way to fix a glitchy post on Facebook if you’re on the backend and trying to post something, is to click the “Customize Facebook Post” option which you’ll see bottom left here:

This often helps the image populate.
Another tip is after you fix the link and it populates, to always then erase the URL from the post. It sounds counterintuitive, but it looks more visually appealing to not have a URL in your caption and it works!
