Choosing a blog name and niche are two very important things to consider before you start a blog! It took me a while to brainstorm and figure out all of my branding, but I did start with these two things. So as a blogger, before you do anything do this.

Choose a niche
A niche is a topic you will blog about. You can pick something general, like dogs, or something more specific, like dogs who wear sunglasses. In order to figure out your niche, pick something you’re passionate about. This will make blogging fun for you! You will want to focus on something you know a lot about and which you have skills, information and experiences on the topic you can share with others.
When figuring out your niche, make a list of things you love to do. How do you spend your free time? What do you love doing everyday? What do you like to talk to your friends about or read up on online? Don’t forget – the more specific, the better.

Choosing a Name
A name is important because it’s often the first thing people see when they come across your blog. They may subconsciously notice your colors or logo, but it’s the name they will consciously see. I spent a long time figuring out Get Savvy with Social. It only came to me after weeks of brainstorming. One trick is to get a pen and paper and just keep writing names or ideas that come to mind. You can look up words in a thesaurus or Google key words related to your niche and see what else pops up.

Once you have a blog name and niche you like, then check social media platforms to see if the name is available. If not, you may want to change it or add a word to it to make it different. Last but not least! Make sure the URL, or domain name, is also open and available for your blog.
