How to crop a photo

Even the best picture can be ruined. A thumb may cover part of the lens or someone may jump into the background. Thankfully, cropping pictures directly on your phone or computer is very simple and easy to do with the basic editing software. Here is how to crop a photo.

How to Crop a Photograph on an iPhone

Once you’ve taken a picture with your camera, you can find the photograph in the Photos app on your iPhone. You can either navigate to the app or search for it by swiping down on your home screen and typing in the search bar that appears.

Once you have your photograph, you can tap the word “Modify” in the top right corner to access the editing tools found on your iPhone. Please note: Mr. LivNews wrote this post and my phone is in French. But you get the idea.

Once in the editing tool, the crop button is in the bottom middle, on the right side (the icon looks like two overlapping right angles). Once you have accessed the “Crop” tool, you will see the image now has framed edges. Drag the edges inwards to create a new, smaller image. Tap the “OK” button in the bottom right corner in order to save and create your new cropped image. The camera roll should save both your original image, as well as the new one, but you can check your options in the “Settings” app.

If you make a mistake, physically shake your phone in your hand to bring up the “Undo” button.

How to Crop a Photograph using a Mac

You can crop images on a Mac by opening your Photos app and locating the photo you want to edit. Once you’ve found the photograph, double-click it, and then hit the “Edit” button in the top right corner of the window.

Once you are in the “Edit” view, you can select “Crop” in the top middle. When you see the framing and grid, you can drag the edges of the image to create a smaller image. If you make a mistake, you can push “Command+Z” on your keyboard to undo an edit. Once you are happy with your image, click “Done” in the top right corner in order to save your new image. You may need to adjust your preferences settings in order to save the original photograph as well as the newly cropped image.

How to Crop a Photograph on a PC

The easiest way to crop a photograph on a PC is to use the Paint tool. You can either find the program using the search function on the “Start” menu or by right-clicking on your image file and selecting “Open with” and then Paint.

Once you are in Paint, use the “Select” tool in the top menu bar in order to select the part of the image you would like to save. Once you are happy with your selection, click the “Crop Tool” to complete the process. The “Crop Tool” is located in the top menu bar to the right of the “Select Tool” and looks like two overlapping right angles. You can type “Ctrl+Z” in order to undo any mistakes.

Breastfeeding while trying to eat with one hand should be an Olympic sport. 😂

I’ve been coming to the realization I may never sleep a full night again or ever stop worrying. 😅

Baby coos, smiles, laughs, cuddles and snuggles are better than anything in the world. 🫶

Other parents are essential to learn from and lean on for support and staying in touch with loved ones, family and friends, is vital for your mood and sanity. Even if you feel like you have no time in the world or feel overwhelmed by visitors, you can try to socialize virtually. 🤗
