A great way to gain exposure to any Instagram post is to reshare it in your Instagram stories!
So many people spend time swiping through stories these days as opposed to clicking on individual profiles. By sharing your post in your stories, you can send people right to your post and increase engagement.

Even for an experienced Instagram user, it’s not the most obvious thing to figure out. So I created a simple step-by-step to help you get better engagement for every Instagram post by sharing to your Instagram stories!

- Then at the top of where you usually see individual people you can share it with, you will see the option to ADD POST TO YOUR STORY:

Instagram will then add the photo to your stories.
But before you share it, decorate the story to encourage your audience to click on it! I like to use gifs and images to do this.

This is great info – thank you! I’m trying to figure out how to share a :30 reel to my stories. It only sends over the first 15 seconds. Any thoughts?
Olivia Smith says
Hi Kimberly! That’s because IG Stories only share 15 seconds at a time. The only way to share all 30 seconds would be to edit your video into two parts in your phone and post it directly from your phone’s camera (not via Reels). But only sharing the first 15 seconds of your Reels can be helpful. If you don’t share all 30 at once you can drive views back to the Reels by enticing people to watch the rest there. Let me know if you have any other questions!
