Have a big app idea but no clue where to start? AI tools like Claude can help you turn your vision into something real – no coding required. Whether you’re a creator, entrepreneur or just someone with a solid idea, here’s how to get started.
Claude is an AI assistant developed by Anthropic, and it’s a great resource for AI-powered app planning and design. Keep reading to learn how I used Claude to design a content planning app, and how you can use it to start building your own app too.
Step 1: Start with a Clear App Idea
Every app begins with a problem to solve. I wanted to create a content planning app for influencers and small business owners to organize posts, captions and deadlines across platforms.
So I asked Claude: “Can you help me design a content planning app? I want users to input ideas, track deadlines and organize posts by platform.”
Claude came back with a detailed outline of core features, UX suggestions and even an interactive prototype to visualize the app. (Yes, really!)

Step 2: Let Claude Create Visual Mockups
Here’s where things get exciting: Claude can actually generate interactive mockups. I was able to preview a simple visual layout of my app, complete core features like idea input, deadline tracking and platform organization.

Here’s a fun one I made that alters the recipe based on how many cookies you want to make:

If you’re familiar with tools like Figma (a popular design app for building digital interfaces), Claude now performs similar lightweight design tasks right in the chat, no separate software required.
You can ask:
- “What should the homepage of my app look like?”
- “Can you show me a mockup of the dashboard?”
- “Help me organize content by platform with visual tags.”
Claude doesn’t just tell you, it shows you.
Step 3: Use AI to Write the Words
Copy is a huge part of user experience. Claude helped me write everything from:
- Button text (“Add Content,” “Schedule,” “Publish”)
- Welcome messages
- In-app tips and tooltips
- App Store descriptions
If you let Claude know your tone – casual, friendly, or professional – it’ll adjust the copy to match your brand voice.

Step 4: Plan the User Journey
Claude helped me design a smart onboarding experience tailored to content creators. I asked: “What’s the best onboarding flow for a content planning app?”
It suggested a 5-step progressive flow starting with fast sign-up and followed by a personalized question to identify user pain points. From there, features are revealed gradually, like adding an idea first before introducing deadlines and platform selection.
Step 5: Hand It Off to a Developer or No-Code Platform
Once Claude helps map out the layout, flow and features, it can be shared with a developer or you can start building it yourself. I asked Claude how to do that and it said: “You can absolutely use my designs and concepts with no-code tools! Glide is your best bet for a content planning app since it handles data relationships well. You can use all my UI layouts, color schemes, content structure, and feature logic as blueprints – just rebuild them using the platform’s components instead of custom code. The complex animations and React-specific elements won’t transfer directly, but the core user experience, data structure (posts, deadlines, platforms), and visual design concepts will work perfectly. Start with the MVP features in Glide, use my designs as wireframes, and you’ll have a functional content planning app within a week or two.”
Claude can also help write a project brief for a developer if that’s the route you choose, clearly outlining everything a developer needs: “…clear problem statement (content creators need deadline tracking and idea organization), detailed MVP features (content management, deadline tracking, multi-platform organization, dashboard), complete tech stack recommendations (React + Firebase/Supabase), exact data structure specifications, 4-week development timeline with weekly milestones, user onboarding flow, design requirements (colors, layouts, responsive design), success metrics, and ready-to-evaluate developer questions.”

You don’t need to be a developer to start building. With Claude, your dream app can go from idea to interactive prototype.
This is what I love about the digital world right now: the tools are finally catching up with the creativity.
