
Instagram now lets users directly post to the platform from a desktop computer. Before 2021, users could only upload to Instagram’s app from a mobile device.
To post from a computer, go to Instagram.com. Click the plus button on the top right of the screen.

This will then appear:

You can drag and drop a photo or video to Instagram this way or you can click the blue tab to upload from your desktop.
One thing I noticed when first using this feature is sometimes the dimensions are a little off. Text on an image may appear smaller once it’s posted, for example. But it’s definitely a nice option to have if you are on a computer and want to post directly from the computer to the platform.

Once you select a video or photo to upload, you’ll have a few choices too like resize options (1:1, 4:5 or 16:9). You’ll also have the choice to enlarge the media by zooming in or to add more media to the post (i.e. you want the post to have multiple videos or photos, not just one).
You can add filters or make adjustments (brightness, contrast, etc.) from the computer as well.
