Ever been on Instagram and seen: Link in bio! Wondering what it means? I’m here to answer all of your questions.
The phrase link in bio originated from Instagram not being able to house URLs, or website links, inside posts. What this means is that when someone shares media on Instagram, they cannot put a website link in their shared post. I mean, they can put the link, but it doesn’t work. Instagram won’t let URLs (or www[fillintheblank]com) live inside of posts.

So if you want to send someone to go to another website, which many people want to do whether for their work or business, then inside the post people write LINK IN BIO.
This tells your audience to go to the place where you can post a URL on Instagram – inside of the bio section at the top of the page:

MORE: How to get more social media followers
As you’ll see in the above image, I added a link to my bio. Now, if I want to send people to it I will encourage them to check out my bio to get there.
If you have a certain amount of followers or are verified, you can also include links inside Instagram Story. This means when you share a story you can add a URL to it and encourage your audience to “swipe up” for more.
