
A logo is an important way to brand your image, product and company. Not only is brand recognition valuable, but it also helps set you apart. Here is how I designed, created and illustrated my blog logo myself!
First, I thought about what my brand and blog represented. I wanted to include elements of digital media with a modern look. I wanted it to look polished and professional but also raw and straightforward.

As a journalist and blogger, I envisioned myself creating content and writing. I do a lot of this at a computer! So I started with that image – a computer. Then I spent time looking on Pinterest and Instagram for art inspiration.

I found sketches I really liked and from there I used that to base the image of the woman. So I had a woman and a computer. And then it clicked: a woman on a computer in a computer. Quite meta. And quite fitting. Plus, a cup of coffee in her hand – the fuel of many writers and creators!
I am not an artist, but I went about sketching the illustration myself. I did this because I wanted to save money and I also wanted to give it a shot. I took a pencil and a piece of white paper and began drawing. It didn’t take as long as I thought!

I then took a photo of it with my phone and airdropped it to my computer. I tweaked the brightness/contrast in Photos on my Mac. I then uploaded it to Canva and built out the computer and the rest of the image there.
Voilà!
