How to FaceTime a group

Video calls or FaceTime are a great way to stay connected with loved ones. There are a few ways you can add people to FaceTime. Here is a breakdown of how to FaceTime a group and how to FaceTime in general if you aren’t quite sure how to do it.

FACETIME

To FaceTime, you’ll need an Apple device. Find the application on your phone or device. It’s green with a white video camera. Open it up and press the + button at the top right to start a call. You can type in a number or you can press the + that appears to choose someone from your contacts. Once you find the contact you can also choose to just call them with audio via FaceTime if you don’t want to use video. Audio FaceTime calls can be good if you have WiFi but no service or are calling someone international.

You can also start a FaceTime from your contacts as well. Open up someone’s contact and you’ll see the option for video as a blue button below their name. This would take you to a FaceTime call.

Once on a call, you have options to play around with effects and/or flip the camera so you can either see yourself talking or show someone what you’re looking at. If you lose those options while on a call simply tap your screen lightly and they will appear again.

Group calls

FaceTime allows for group calls. One way to do this is to call from a group text message you have. Open that text message chat and tap the names at the top. An option to FaceTime will appear and invite everyone in that group. This is good if you need to leave and come back. You can hang up using the red button, but then rejoin the chat by going back into the group message and clicking to rejoin.

You can also go back to the app and find the + button and type in multiple contacts or numbers separated by commas.

If you’re on a call and want to add more people, tap your screen to bring up the options at the bottom if they’ve disappeared and then swipe up. You’ll then have the option to add others. If you need more help here is a video from Apple too.

There are other apps you can use too like Skype, Google Hangouts and WhatsApp!
