How to FaceTime a group

Video calls or FaceTime are a great way to stay connected with loved ones. There are a few ways you can add people to FaceTime. Here is a breakdown of how to FaceTime a group and how to FaceTime in general if you aren’t quite sure how to do it.

FACETIME

To FaceTime, you’ll need an Apple device. Find the application on your phone or device. It’s green with a white video camera. Open it up and press the + button at the top right to start a call. You can type in a number or you can press the + that appears to choose someone from your contacts. Once you find the contact you can also choose to just call them with audio via FaceTime if you don’t want to use video. Audio FaceTime calls can be good if you have WiFi but no service or are calling someone international.

You can also start a FaceTime from your contacts as well. Open up someone’s contact and you’ll see the option for video as a blue button below their name. This would take you to a FaceTime call.

Once on a call, you have options to play around with effects and/or flip the camera so you can either see yourself talking or show someone what you’re looking at. If you lose those options while on a call simply tap your screen lightly and they will appear again.

Group calls

FaceTime allows for group calls. One way to do this is to call from a group text message you have. Open that text message chat and tap the names at the top. An option to FaceTime will appear and invite everyone in that group. This is good if you need to leave and come back. You can hang up using the red button, but then rejoin the chat by going back into the group message and clicking to rejoin.

You can also go back to the app and find the + button and type in multiple contacts or numbers separated by commas.

If you’re on a call and want to add more people, tap your screen to bring up the options at the bottom if they’ve disappeared and then swipe up. You’ll then have the option to add others. If you need more help here is a video from Apple too.

There are other apps you can use too like Skype, Google Hangouts and WhatsApp!

Let’s be social media BFFs!

It’s Halloween, so I have to share something scary It’s Halloween, so I have to share something scary... and some may think nothing is scarier than what I’m about to post 👻

This month I had 4 public speaking engagements! I’m always excited to share my work and what I’m passionate about, but that doesn’t mean I’m not human. I used to be filled with dread before walking onstage. But over time, by forcing myself to do it again and again, the fear faded.

Now I teach it too! 🔗 Link to my coaching in bio.

In October, I:

🎤 Gave a keynote on AI and the future of media for the Journalism Association of Community Colleges
🔒 Spoke on a panel about AI and privacy at ETHOS LIVE, hosted by @uscviterbi’s Engineering in Society Program and the USC Institute on Ethics & Trust in Computing (IETC)
🤖 Led an AI workshop for the @usccenterforpr’s Lead On! event
📚 Read a book from my series Dog Detectives Jacob & Bricks at an elementary school

(Not to mention the consulting, teaching and faculty workshops)

What’s the scariest thing you did this month?

Day 19 of letting AI run my life. #oliviAIproject

It’s helping me set and achieve goals this year.

And maybe more importantly, it lets me outsource the tasks I don’t have time for: grocery lists, comparing what item is a healthier choice, sending me client reminders, organizing my lists. So I have more time to spend with my loved ones.

Been at this 17 days! Letting AI give me a daily to-do list to meet my goals over the next year.

Easiest thing so far: chatting and planning with AI to make my to-do lists.

Hardest thing: ✍️ writing every day.

I’ve been getting so many new clients thanks to @chatgpt (& #GEO 🙌) that sticking to my extra goals on top of kids and work was tough this month, but almost everything is still on track.
