Here’s how to set up an Instagram Shop to start selling your products on the platform!
In order to have a shop on Instagram, you need to have a business account. To change this go to ‘Settings’ and then ‘Account.’ Scroll to the bottom and select “Switch to Business Account.”
When you return to ‘Settings’ you should see a ‘Business’ tab. Your account must also be connected to a Facebook Page.

According to Facebook (which owns Instagram), “If you don’t see Shopping, your account is probably still under review or it hasn’t been approved for Instagram Shopping. The review process can take up to a few days, but sometimes we may need to review the account in more detail, which can take longer.”
As of 2021, you can only view Instagram Shops on the app and not on a desktop.
Here’s an example of how the shop button looks when someone has a shop:

When you browse someone’s shop collection, you’ll find information, prices and links to products.

You must have an item for sale on a website you own in order to be approved. Once approved, you set up your Instagram Shop through Facebook Business Manager.
If you get denied when you first apply, disconnect your Instagram from Facebook and start from scratch. To complete the reset, you should also change your Instagram account back to a personal account, then change it back again to a business account after waiting a day.
