Set themes for your Instagram chats

A fun way to mix up an Instagram chat is to set a theme for it! There are a variety of options, and each one has a unique look. Here’s how to pick and set a theme.

Navigate to your chats and open one up. You can change the theme in two ways. The first is to tap the information “i” icon in the top right corner. Then you’ll see the theme option at the top.

The second way is to use your finger to press and hold on the background of the chat. This window will pop up:

The look of the chat will change when you pick a theme, like this:

After you set a theme, you’ll also see an option to change the Instagram chat theme appear in the chat (circled in red above).

There are a number of themes with options including love, ocean, pride, autumn and astrology.

In addition to themes, you can also pick colors and gradients.
