
Art on YouTube. It wasn’t something I had ever thought to look up myself. But one day my mother-in-law, who is an artist, started showing me some really cool videos on YouTube.
Immediately, I felt relaxed and transfixed. That’s when I thought, why wasn’t this something I had tried sooner?

I appreciate art. I like going to museums and I took a few art classes in college. But I’d never thought of throwing on an art video in my spare time or having one play in the background while cooking dinner.

Yet, after watching a few videos I knew I could get hooked on it. After that first experience of watching art tutorials online, I went to YouTube and typed “art videos” into the search bar. The first things that popped up were “oddly satisfying” art videos with millions and millions of views. That’s when I realized watching art videos was a thing.

There are different types of videos – some are tutorials where the artist is teaching how to recreate a technique and others are more like video collages of paintings or sketches. There are even art videos that are said to “relax you before sleep.”
Watching art videos on YouTube where people make things using pens, brushes, markers – really whatever – is something I now find enjoyable! And you might too. The next time you’re hanging out, whether it’s with friends or by yourself, and you want to try having something on in the background, I recommend trying art.
