How to workout at home

LIFESTYLE

Workout at home

While the coronavirus has gyms closed and people stuck inside, many are looking for ways to workout at home. I’m not a personal trainer, but I do have a certification in nutrition and I love using technology to get creative (including with my workouts). Below are some ways you can workout at home if you don’t have a gym.

Look online

I’ve found really cool workouts on YouTube and social media. Try following influencers you like who put content on their platforms that you want to try. You can also search for workout videos on YouTube.

If you don’t have the equipment you need, don’t worry! Try looking up workouts where you don’t need any equipment (include that in your search) or you can substitute household items for equipment. You may be surprised by what you can do with stairs, a couch or a water bottle – or just your body!

If you have outdoor space you can also search outdoor workouts and see what’s possible outside and in the sun.

Try new apps

I’ve played around with a few different workout apps. There are some that are free and some that aren’t. Go for what’s in your budget, and if you pay for something make sure you use it – and paying may even incentivize you to use it. Apps I’ve tried include Neou, Shock, Sworkit and MapMyRun. If you have an app you like leave a comment about it below!

Some apps offer classes and others offer workout moves. Again, go with what works for you – or you may want to use both and mix it up.

There are other apps out there too that aren’t workout apps but are related to physical well-being, including mediation apps like Simple Habit or other apps that encourage you to take time away from technology like Forest.

So get creative and stay safe while trying a workout at home.
